The TR4-A

A few years ago I got a arfix set for christmas. I rushed it quite badly. It did look quite awful so I came up with an idea to make a new Scalextric car out of it. I combined Scalextric a porsche boxster chassis and the body of the TR4-A. The the design I inspire to do is this 1963 sebring type.

I started by striping the body. most of it was off of the car already.

The chassis didn't fit exactly but it can be adjusted.

The new wheels are from one of my many ford escort MK1's.

I painted it light blue and gave it the number 26 which was one of the three Triumph TR4's (TRS's) 1961 le mans. The interior is made form some black card that I fit to size.

I cut the Airfix TR4-A seat so i just had the back and the driver was a spear from one of my Mclaren's f1 cars. So I painted the white helmet to make it more realistic.

The decals I printed off on to self adhesive paper. and also stuck. The super glue ran down the windscreen that lets it down and also the front window is very week.

A few chips already after a bit of racing but thats what you will expect from a home made car. the badge was also painted with a steady hand!

Headlights painted as well as the bumper and the rear badges.

the driver sits in well.

The headlight covers were made out of insulating tape cut up.
I had to adjust the chassis as it didn't fit.

The guides just fit inside underneath the body. if it didn't, it would break quite easily.

Even though the windscreen may be horrible it is a very fast car and its good to say I made that.

A video of the car.

I very much enjoyed making this car and you will see a lot more scratch building from me!

New spectators

The other day I received some new spectators that I bought on Ebay on monday. They were pre painted which made it a lot easier. They go well with my track as they have 1950/60's clothes.

I like this boy.He has laterhousens!!!

I moved that bench from another palace (opposite this side of the track) looks better here.

they look good over the bridge but blue tack ruins it.

yet again, blue tack looks horrible as well as those grass mats i made. i will change that.

A family down at the control tower looking onto the start finish. (i highly recommend this watching place!)

Marshall's huts

I made these marshall hutts last year out of balsa and modeling card board.

Last week i made a program stall for my MRRC program seller.

New old refreshments kiosk

Yesterday i put the finishing touches on my homemade scalextric refreshments kiosk. I based my idea around the scalextric A/228 kiosk.

I made the building out of a model making material (i don't know what is is called!) and added balsa wood for edging and for the wood effect. In side i made a cut out drinks dispenser.you can Print them out from the link. http://www.carrera4fun.de/pdf/gkuehl1.pdf. Also i added an inside partition wall and some shelfs. Then painted it and printed of some logos.

The making of westfield

We started building the track in september last year.We had several ideas for the track and the board the track goes on. We made the board so that when we take the track up for the summer we can fold it away.

we started building the board and then painted it grey with bits of sand in so it gives a gravel effect.

I added some scalextric posters and a bar honda flag.

The finished track!

Scalextric Club champion

In 2009, i became the Scalextric club champion at the brooklands test hill challenge. I set the fastest times for a club member (19.49 seconds)  in a scalextric ford escort MK1 rs1600.

Adrian Norman phoned my dad to tell me I had won the competition. I was asked what prize do you want? i wanted the ford escort mk1 club car offer. As you have probably guessed, i love ford escorts and all other fords. They asked if we could write an article to go in the scalextric club magazine and add a photo. We typed it up, sent it on email then in the next club magazine we were in there.

Quite few weeks later i got in the post my car and later followed by my certificate. I just thought that  the car would be the normal one but it had written on it " scalextric club champion 2009". I was very pleased.

Last year i went to the london international slot car show at crofton halls in orpington.i brought the car along with me to get valued. the first seller said he would pay £400. later we asked another seller. He said £500 then £600. i would never sell it but i just wanted to know how much it is worth.
